Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I buy a lodge from the Waterside Holiday Group?
Ever since we were established in 1963, we have sought to be the market leaders within our industry and we seek to provide an unrivalled holiday home ownership experience. Our continual programme of investment has seen tens of millions of pounds invested to improve our parks and the service that we offer, and this will continue moving forward.

Most importantly, our commitment to service underlines everything that we do. We are always here to talk to – the personal connection is extremely important to us.

Can my friends and family visit?
With pleasure! For many people it’s one of the real joys of owning a lodge. If you aren’t on park to welcome your guests, we’re happy to make the arrangements and do it for you. All of your immediate family (parents, grandparents, children and grandchildren) receive complimentary use of all the leisure facilities. Wider family (such as uncles, aunties, brothers and sisters) receive complimentary entry to our entertainment venues and are welcome to use the leisure facilities for a small charge. It’s comforting to note that all of our facilities are exclusively open to holiday home owners and guests – there is no external membership available.

Can I choose the location of my lodge?
Yes, you’re able to choose from the available locations depending on the size of the lodge you choose. We will be able to advise you as to the location which, in our experience, best suits your requirements, but the choice is entirely yours.

Do I have to change my lodge every ten years?
No. For a limited period we’re offering new lodges with an unlimited tenure. That is to say that you can keep it on the park for as long as you like. The license was drawn up by our industry trade body, the British Holiday Home and Parks Association (BH&HPA), in association with the Office of Fair Trading.

How many months of the year is the park open for?
Our Waterside and Chesil Vista holiday parks are open from 1st March to 15th January every year (46 weeks). Osmington Holiday Park is open from 15th March to 15th January each year – this means that you can enjoy your lodge over the Christmas and New Year period. The majority of on-park facilities are open from mid March until the end of October.

Can I live in my lodge?
No. All of our parks are licensed as holiday parks. Your lodge is designed to be enjoyed as your perfect retreat, but not as a permanent residence.

Do I own the land?
You own your lodge, but not the land upon which it is sited.

Can I bring pets?
Certainly. As an owner you are welcome to bring your pet with you and the surrounding area is fantastic for dog walking. As we operate family parks we do restrict certain breeds of dog (please ask for details) and request that they are kept on a lead whilst in the park.

What do site fees cover?
The annual site fees include VAT, general and water rates, park maintenance and security. They also include all the elements of the holiday home owner’s package which makes Osmington so special.

Do you have finance packages available?
We do. RoyScot Larch is an appointed representative of The Royal Bank of Scotland plc which is authorised and regulated by the Financial Services Authority – they are the market leaders in lodge finance and offer tailored packages to suit your requirements over periods of up to 15 years. We also offer very competitive holiday home finance with Barclays.

Is it possible to sub-let lodges?
Fully managed sub-letting packages are available through our award-winning holidays brand.
